candied sweet potatoes

by markia
(new york)

how do i make baked candied sweet potatoes?

Hey there Markia!

I thought I had posted the recipe but I guess not so I'm glad you asked!

Here's what you are going to need:

6 large sweet potatoes

1/2 cup (1 stick) of butter

2 cups brown sugar

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1 teaspoon nutmeg

1 tablespoon vanilla extract

1/2 teaspoon salt

Here's what you need to do:

Peel the sweet potatoes and cut them into slices. Set aside.

In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt. Set aside.

In a large skillet, melt the butter. Stir in the sliced sweet potatoes. Add the brown sugar and cinnamon mixture. Mix well.

Cover, reduce heat to low and cook for about 1 hour, stirring occasionally until potatoes are tender. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla.
