Tonight I made the chocolate mayonnaise cake and topped it off with this icing. The cake was so moist and the icing was so rich and it was so delectable, everyone needs to try this!!! My son is severely allergic to peanuts, so I wasn't able to try the peanut butter icing, which looked good also!!!

I remember a frosting that was not fluffy at all and you poured it over the cake. It set up to make a chocolate "crust" that was like candy. I would guess you not beat it so much and get it on the cake before it hardened. Of course it was a one-egg cake!

I have been searching for a recipe like this! My Dad wanted a cake made with icing like his Mother made - I have been seeking it, to no avail. Your recipe sounds just like he remembered. Making it now - hoping it fulfills his memory!
