How To Make Stuffed Peppers

Here is a step-by-step guide that will teach you how to make stuffed peppers that will have your friends and family asking for more!

Now, me and my family like LOTS of the filling so you will notice in the pictures I only used 2 green peppers so we have more of the filling. The recipe calls for 3 green peppers but if you like even less filling and more green peepers, you can use 4.

Here's what you're going to need:

3 green peppers
1 cup of uncooked white rice
1 1/2 pounds of lean ground beef
1 small onion, diced
3 cloves of garlic
1 teaspoon of salt
1/2 teaspoon of pepper
1/2 teaspoon of red pepper flakes
1 teaspoon of dried basil
1 teaspoon of Italian Seasoning
1/2 teaspoon of fennel seeds
1 (15-ounce) can of tomato sauce
1 (6-ounce) can of tomato paste
2 teaspoons of sugar
2 cups of mozzarella cheese, shredded

Here's what you need to do:

Bring a large pot of water to a boil.

Cut the peppers in half and remove the seeds and white ribs. Drop into the boiling water a cook for 5 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels. (You'll notice that I only used 2 green peppers...that's because we like LOTS of extra filling!)

In another pot, put the uncooked rice and 2 cups of water. Bring to a boil, cover, reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes until all liquid is absorbed. Set aside.
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.

Brown ground beef over medium to medium high heat. Add the chopped onions and garlic. Cook until the onions are tender.

Add the salt, pepper, red pepper flakes, basil, Italian seasoning and fennel seeds. Stir.

Add the rice, tomato sauce, tomato paste and the sugar.

Mix well.

Spray a 9 x 12 glass baking dish with non-stick spray. Spoon half of the mixture into the bottom of the pan. Sprinkle with 1 cup of the mozzarella cheese. Lay the green peppers onto of the hamburger and rice mixture. Fill each pepper with equal amounts of the filling. Cover and bake for 25 minutes.

Remove from the oven, uncover, sprinkle with the remaining mozzarella cheese, return to the oven and bake uncovered for 15 minutes.

Now that you know how to make stuffed green peppers all that's left is to Enjoy!
