Top Notch Basic Recipe!!

Mama,
Excellent basic recipe. A Classic. I loved it, but needed to expand on it to fit my taste. I took a small biscuit shortcut by using Bisquick (see package directions) instead of self rising flour and grated 12oz of sharp cheddar cheese into the dough. I used hot sausage and substituted a Knorr chicken bullion cube instead of the salt. I also added 1 Tbs of old bay seasoning with a good pinch of Cayenne powder and (as if this needed more calories) I used heavy cream. Basically the same recipe with a personal touch. Thank you for a fantastic starting point.
