Cheese Straws Recipe

This Cheese Straws recipe is made with Cheddar cheese and a little cayenne pepper. It's a southern favorite!

Southern Cheese Straw Recipe

Here's what you'll need:

1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, at room temperature
2 cups shredded sharp Cheddar, at room temperature
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

Here's what you'll need to do:

Preheat the oven to 300 degrees F.

Put all of the ingredients into a food processor and mix until a smooth dough is formed.

Wrap in waxed paper or plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.

Roll dough out on a lightly floured surface into a 1/4-inch thick rectangle. Cut into smaller rectangles, about 1 by 3-inches and gently twist. Place strips onto a lightly greased cookie sheet.

Bake for 10 to 15 minutes or until lightly browned. Remove to racks to cool.
