Stewed Okra And Tomatoes

A delicious southern classic, stewed okra and tomatoes is oh sooo good. Serve it along with some white rice or just eat it plain...you're gonna love it!

4 slices of bacon, cut into small pieces
1/2 cup onion
1/2 cup green bell pepper
2 cloves of garlic
1 stalk of celery, sliced fairly thin
1 (29 ounce) can of whole tomatoes
1 tablespoon of chicken base
1 tablespoon sugar
2 cups of fresh okra (if you don't have fresh, froazen will work just fine)
pepper to taste

In a large pan, cook bacon pieces until crisp. Add the onion, green bell pepper, celery and garlic. Sautee until onions become translucent (about 5 minutes). Add tomatoes, chicken base, sugar and okra. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, cover and simmer for 20 to 30 minutes until okra is tender. Add pepper to taste.

You'll find that this okra with tomatoes recipe is great poured over some white rice.

I hope you enjoy it!
